Ocean Backpackers is a clean and homely hostel, which offers comfortable and spacious accommodation at great prices. The hostel is a 3 Crown Hotel, built by a master boat builder around 1860 and used to house a wine merchants, confectionary and bakery during the Victorian era. In 1999 it underwent an extensive renovation to create an up market international hostel.
The location could not be better; we are in Ilfracombe harbour, the main bus station, which brings coaches from London, Heathrow and Birmingham is opposite the hostel, surrounded by cafes, restaurants, convenience stores we have 7 pubs within 150 metres of the hostel. Ilfracombe has way more in terms of entertainment than any of the nearby towns and is surrounded by breathtaking coastline.

Bookings - Terms and conditions.

How to Book.       Dorm bed and double room conditions for groups of five or less.

Telephone:       To guarantee a bed reservation please telephone or Email with the following information.
     1. Your full name and address.
     2. Your arrival date.
     3. Number of nights that you require.
     4. Type of credit/debit card, or send a cheque.
     5. Card No. and expiry date.
     6. Approximate arrival time.
     7. Contact telephone number.

 

Group Bookings. (Applies to six or more people.)

  • Maximum group size 45

  • Some booking dates may require a minimum stay of two nights.

  • 25% non-refundable deposit payable on bookings (by cheque or credit card.)

  • Full amount payable on arrival.

Alterations to bookings must be made one week in advance or groups will be charged for 'no shows' unless the beds can be filled within this time.

Disabilities.    Whilst we will endeavor to accommodate any person with a disability or special needs, we are unfortunately not suitable for the more severely disabled  due to the structure and design of the building. Please do not hesitate to ring us if you would like to discuss whether we would be able to accommodate your needs.
ABOUT THE MANAGEMENT...
     Chris and Abby, both from Bromley Kent, decided a change of lifestyle was in order and moved to Ilfracombe, to run Ocean Backpackers  in July 2002. For Chris a qualified electrician and Abby a qualified Radiographer the change meant a change of career, one which they are thoroughly enjoying.
     Both have spent many years backpacking throughout the world, and were very keen to put their experience into providing quality budget accommodation, in perfect surroundings.
     Since 2002, Chris and Abby have made many improvements to Ocean Backpackers as well as getting married and starting family life with the birth of their son Joshua in 2005 and Skye in 2006. They welcome national and international travellers of all ages to Ocean Backpackers, all year round and wish one and all a very enjoyable stay.
