Ocean Backpackers is an independently owned hostel with a homely atmosphere, relaxed check-in times and no curfew. This cool, clean and friendly budget accommodation has a self-catering kitchen, communal lounge, large storage basement and car park.
Situated in Ilfracombe, a quaint North Devon coastal town built around an ancient Victorian fishing port, we are central not only to the harbour itself but also the bus station, high street, cliffs, pubs, cafés and restaurants.
We are also just a short drive from the sandy surf beaches of Croyde Bay, Saunton Sands and Woolacombe Bay.

Olympic Torch.
We are very pleased to announce that the London Organising Comitee of the Olympic Games announced last week that the official Olympic Torch will pass through Ilfracombe on May 21st 2012. On it's third leg of a 70 day, 800 mile Olympic Torch Relay, the flame will travel from Exeter to Taunton via North Devon. Cruise Ship
Ilfracombe recently welcomed the cruise ship MS Prinsendam. The town was well prepared for the 800 passengers and 470 crew members. Although we only offer top quality budget accommodation here at ocean backpackers and therefore did not directly benifit from this visit we made sure our frontage was looking it's best incase any of the visitors fancied a return trip and might want to stay in 1 of North Devon's top youth hostels. ...
